Q. What is Paradigm?

A. Paradigm is the unification of three De Gruyter Brill brands previously known as the University Press Library, Ubiquity, and Sciendo. These three companies have unique strengths in hosting and distributing open access and paid content, publishing services, and repositories, and combined are able to provide a full spectrum of services to clients in the academic publishing sphere.

Q. What market needs is Paradigm aiming to address, and how will it fulfill those needs?

A. Paradigm aims to be a responsive service unit by providing bespoke services for our partners and clients, whether that involves sales, marketing, production, technology, or all of the above. Our goal is to support our partners while helping them achieve and maintain independence and sustainability.

Q. What innovations is Paradigm introducing, and how will it differentiate itself in the market?

A. Paradigm will provide technology services to partners, including familiar open source technology, while integrating new features like artificial intelligence. Introducing new products and improving on existing products is at the core of Paradigm’s work. A good example is Paradigm’s open access platform – initially designed for partners to publish OA content, it quickly became a large store of digital OA content that more traditional presses benefit from.

Q. Do I have to opt in to all of your services and products if I want to work with Paradigm?

A. No! We want to work with you in a way that suits you best. Our products and services are available a la carte in order for you to build a package that works for your business.

Q: I’ve read everything on your site but I’m still confused. What does Paradigm do?
