De Gruyter Brill acquired Ubiquity Press in the fall of 2022. Together, the two companies work to make academic research globally accessible and discoverable by offering excellent publishing services. Ubiquity publishes gold and diamond open access journals and books through its imprint Ubiquity Press, and supports 33 independent university presses with publishing services. With these partners, Ubiquity currently provides over 1,000 open access journals and more than 5,000 open access books. Ubiquity recently extended its services with the launch of its institutional repositories platform, adding capacity to drive green open access and the dissemination of the entire research lifecycle, including preprints, theses and research data. 2025 will see the launch of a new large-scale platform showcasing all of these features, openscience.com.

Journal Publishing
We provide high-quality open-access journal publishing for academic societies, with fair and transparent pricing. All journals are fully optimized for open access, with no paywalls or embargoes, and are widely indexed and archived.  

Book Publishing
Our books are peer-reviewed and published fully open access through our Ubiquity Press imprint to ensure maximum dissemination of the content. All processes are fully optimized for the electronic-first, open circulation of content and the distribution of hard copies.  

Partner Presses
We offer a full suite of infrastructure and services to enable universities, libraries, and societies to operate open-access presses. Each partner press is provided with a fully rebranded, easily customized web portal, displaying information about all journals and books in one place. Our partner presses also become members of the Ubiquity Partner Network, achieving an economy of scale through shared infrastructure and services.

Achievements

2018:  launch of our Customer Charter, which guarantees that Ubiquity Press’s core products will always be open access, open source, and unbundled

2019: launch of Ubiquity Repositories, an open-source, cloud-hosted, multi-tenant repository platform which supports scholarly dissemination at all stages of research, including research data, software, preprints, theses, and open educational resources. All research outputs are citable with metrics to track impact, and our open-access journal and book publishing platforms provide high-quality dissemination.   

Our platforms are based on highly scalable cloud technology. We guarantee uptime, performance, and information security and are ISO 27001 certified. We base our platforms on open infrastructure and contribute our code back to the broader community. Our open-source and industry collaborations also ensure that Ubiquity’s partners will not be locked into proprietary software or publication outputs.
