We ensure that eBooks and journals seamlessly integrate into De Gruyter’s publishing platforms, providing users with convenient access to content from anywhere with an internet connection. 

Our UPLOpen platform is fully optimized to support digital-first, open content distribution. Built by Ubiquity, a trusted partner of researchers, universities, and academic societies, UPLOpen is not only 100% open access; it also utilizes open-source infrastructure, enhancements to which will benefit the broader open source community.

Integration into degruyter.com
All eBooks and journals are seamlessly integrated into our platform, ensuring broad accessibility for users.  

DOI Integration
Each eBook and journal receive DOIs on both book and chapter levels, enhancing citation accuracy and discoverability. We collaborate closely with Crossref to ensure timely registration of DOIs and resolve any registration issues.  

MARC Records
All eBooks are supplied with MARC records, facilitating cataloging and metadata management.  

Integration with Discovery Services
To maximize visibility and discoverability, we ensure that all products are sent to Discovery Services.

Our hosting process involves several steps:

Metadata Ingestion
Presses provide us with metadata, which we ingest and update regularly to keep information current. 

File Submission
Presses submit full-text PDFs and EPUB files, if available. 

Pre-Hosting Process
Titles undergo a pre-hosting process where they are chunked on a chapter level and enriched with metadata. 

Quality Assurance
Titles are subjected to a submission checker system to ensure quality standards are met. 

Automatic Upload
Once approved, titles are automatically loaded onto our platform. 

Release and Access
Content is released to users around the planned publication date provided by the press. 

DRM-Free Access
Unlimited use titles are DRM-free, allowing users to download, print, and save eBooks for personal use. 

Partner Promotion
Every partner receives a browse page highlighting their newly published titles and a dedicated link to all their content on degruyter.com. 

Copyright Compliance
We ensure that logo files and copyright information provided by partners are included for proper citation. 

Usage Reporting
COUNTER-5 compliant usage reports are available for all hosted titles, providing valuable insights into content usage and engagement.
